What is a Chromebook

A Chromebook is a laptop that allows you to use the Chrome Internet Browser and G Suite applications such as Drive, Docs, Google Classroom, Google Meet, and other MRCS approved applications. You will sign in using your MRCS student account. The Chromebook will connect automatically at the school, but it will need to be connected to the Internet to access everything you need from home.

  1. If this is the first time turning on your student Chromebook at home you will need to connect the Chromebook to your Wireless Network.

As the Chromebook boots up you should come to a screen that says “Network Not Available”. Below that message you should see a list of other available Wireless Networks near you. Select your wireless network and on the next screen you will be prompted to enter your wireless password. Please enter the password and click connect.

Note: If this is the first time signing into an account you will need to agree to the Google Chrome OS terms by clicking “Accept and Continue”

3. After successfully connecting to your wireless network you will then be at the login screen. Please enter the email address [StudentID]@mrcserie.org that was provided to you and click Next.

4. Now you will be prompted to enter the password for your student account. Enter the password and click Next.

5. You are now signed into the Chromebook and your school account. You will have access to the Chrome browser and other applications that are available and setup on the device. This includes Chrome, Google Classroom, Google Meet and Hapara.
